AUSTIN HOME SALES UP and forecast looks good
AUSTIN (Austin Board of Realtors) Area home sales totaled 1784 units in March 2010, an increase of 27% percent from the same month in 2009, according to the Multiple Listing Service report by the Austin Board of Realtors. The median price remained stable at $180,000.
Austin lost 2600 jobs last year and is expected to add 9,200 new jobs this year - an 11,800 job difference.
Austin currently has 6 months of single family inventory. The Texas Real Estate Research Center considers that to be a balanced market with stable prices.
Austin's condo market currently has a nine month supply of inventory at approximately 1,500 units.
Last year Austin grew by 44,400 people. This year the population is expected to increase by 51,800 people.
